Melanie Sivley, O.D.

Dr. Melanie Sivley, OD, FAAO, FNAP, is an optometrist and former faculty member at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Department of Optometry and Vision Science, with over 30 years of patient care experience.

Dr. Sivley earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Auburn University and her Doctorate in Optometry from the UAB School of Optometry. She departed full-time academia in 2017 and joined Holcomb Laser Center, an EyeCare Partners practice in Alabama. Her clinical expertise includes comprehensive eye exams, contact lens care, LASIK and cataract surgery co-management, and managing specialized eye conditions including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and dry eye disease.

Dr. Sivley has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and lectured extensively on genetic disorders affecting the eyes. She is a Distinguished Practitioner of the National Academies of Practice, Distinguished Fellow of the National Optometry Academy, and Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She holds licenses to practice therapeutic optometry in North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Alabama.
